Colgate Sensitive* Toothpaste

  Overview   FAQs   Indications

Why are my teeth so sensitive?

  • Enamel Erosion: Contact with everyday acidic foods may soften enamel which may cause enamel wear from brushing and expose the root surfaces of your teeth.
  • Gum Recession: As gums recede, the root surfaces may be exposed. Roots contain thousands of tiny channels that lead directly to the tooth?s nerve center.
  • Nerve Pain: When exposed root surfaces make contact with something cold, hot or sweet, the nerves are stimulated and you may feel painful sensitivity.

My teeth are only sensitive sometimes. Is this common?

Yes. Many adults have occasional sensitivity to cold, hot or sweet beverages and food. Others suffer from constant pain. Regardless of the frequency of your pain, let your dentist or hygienist know. They can recommend proper treatment for tooth sensitivity.
